81.  Get Out!

This is healthier than spending most weekdays indoors in a crowded, and often overheated, classroom.  Spending more time out-of-doors results in feeling more in touch with the changing of the seasons and with the small and often overlooked miracles of nature.

82.  Children Can Design Their Education

Children will not feel like passive recipients of subject matter selected by their teachers. They will learn to design their own education and take responsibility for it. Children will realize that learning can take place in a large variety of ways. They will learn to seek out assistance from many alternative sources, rather than relying on a classroom teacher to provide all the answers.

83.  Testing Is Optional

Time doesn't have to be spent on testing or preparing for testing unless the parent and/or child desires it. Observation and discussion are ongoing at home and additional assessment methods are often redundant. Testing, if used, is best used to indicate areas for further work

84.  Time To Focus

Provide long, uninterrupted blocks of time for writing, reading, playing, thinking, or working so that the child is able to engage in sophisticated, complex activities and thought processes.

85.  No Dumbing Down

The majority of our students in America score much lower than our European or Asian neighbors. The 3 R's have almost disappeared from our academic scene. I am afraid that if you ask students today to define the 3 R's they would answer Recycle, Reuse, and Reduce. Sports and feel-good activities crowd the classroom teacher's time. The classroom door must have top quality hinges because someone is constantly coming or going to band, speech, drama, art or the computer lab. (All of these may be important but not at the expense of reading, writing, and arithmetic.)

86.  Let's Children Be Children

Unfortunately our children are forced to rush and hurry at an early age. Some student's schedules are booked from morning to night. There are so many after school activities that our children are expected to do. When they enter the door after a long eight to eight schedule, there is homework that must be done. The great news about home schooling is that you are free in the early afternoon. This leaves plenty of time to swing on a swing and watch the clouds float by.

I really wonder how many of today's pre-teens have ever observed the clouds and taken the time to imagine how many funny shapes and designs the formation of the clouds produce. Home schooling allows the parents an opportunity to recapture childhood for their children.

87.  Gaps

The public school curriculum has huge gaps that are sometimes never closed. Example: Even though a group of third graders have not mastered the multiplication tables, they must keep plowing ahead in order to finish the book. In many classrooms there are few teachers that insist that the student must know his multiplication facts before he attempts to divide.

88.  Employers

Do you employ expatriate personnel?  Education is vital for families thinking of working overseas.  It can influence their decision on whether or not to go. Home schooling is an option which allows families to stay together and children to benefit from the experience of living abroad, whilst at the same time keeping up with home standards of education

89.  Start a Micro business

What could be better than a summer job flipping burgers? Entrepreneurship, for one thing. Just think instead of spending time in a mindless entry-level job, teens can start and run small businesses, and not only earn money for the future, but also learn about planning, budgeting, organization, marketing, and customer service, and perhaps even gain experience for a future career

90.  Do Career Apprenticeship

In traditional school, you’re lucky to get one day off each year to shadow a worker at his or her job. Homeschooled teens can try different careers through informal mentoring relationships, formal apprenticeships, or volunteering opportunities.

91.  Being In Charge

The parent can be in charge of all the educational material that children learn from, and you have the authority to censor inappropriate information if you want or study any subject you choose. If your girls went to public school, there is an 88% chance they would get brainwashed with liberal humanism and graduate believing lies. Homeschooling allows you to indoctrinate your own kids with traditional

Christian morals and values, along with real science and academics. Children are going to get indoctrinated one way or the other – might as well indoctrinate them with the TRUTH.

92.  Comfortable Environment

Children can cozy up by a warm fire and read a good book, with a cup of hot cocoa instead of a hard desk. What about can listening  to music while we working?

93.  Learning Never Stops

There are no bells to tell us it's time to stop learning. Our children have more time to pursue their interests and talents and prepare for their life's mission. We can practice standing in line at the grocery store and Disneyland instead of at school

94.  No school permissions

We aren't tempted to lie by writing a note to the school saying our child was sick when they were really doing something else. We get to go on lots more field trips - without permission slips, name tags or bus rides

95.  No School Shooting

The level of crime rate in schools is rising every day. Have you heard of or read in the newspaper about these kinds of dangers? They are real and I cringe at the thought of my young ones out there without me.

96.  Leadership

Many families utilize homeschooling coupled with a religious component of their child’s education. Traditional schools or educational system will not do this. Parents will have the ability to adequately enhance certain moral or religious learning for their child. Parents can help their children learn their ideologies and deep beliefs rather than let the traditional school system dictate what moral characteristics and religious values your child will receive.

97.  Immoral School Influences

I worry too about the immoral influences within school. Exposure to these is affecting kids younger and younger these days. Even in kindergarten there is talk of boyfriend / girlfriend! Hmmm.....

98.  Child’s Play

Children’s playtime should always be learning time. Parents, teachers and caregivers can conveniently accelerate three, four, five, six and seven-year old child development skills during playtime.

99.  Children Grow Together

"I want my children to grow up together. I want to provide an environment in which our family was not separated for the majority of the day, 5 days a week, 9 months out of the year. Homeschooling allows my children to grow up together. That's important to us

100.  Guide Your Child

"I want to be the one to answer my child's questions about life and about the world. I want to know their thoughts, their worries, their big ideas. My children are my greatest treasure and I want to cherish the time I have with them."
